I tried a conversion to PNG and the file reduced from 43K to 31K.
Such a small difference hardly seems worth the bother.

The original (used to build the PDF) is EPS format, so I suppose there
is potential for converting that to SVG for the HTML version.

Something to consider when we update the HTML version for TC1 perhaps.
