Has Apache for certain accepted OOo?

Any ideas how this will affect the code base for LO? Increase / decrease
the likelihood that the code will merge?

I read that the code was given to Apache but that the translations were
not.... I can find the quote if needed, but, the source likely does not
matter. More interested in how it affects the products and how that
filters back to this group and the decisions that we make.

How quickly is LO diverging from OOo?

If things diverge too much and/or too quickly, then we likely need to
pick a project and just go with it. I have a strong preference that this
not occur and, if possible, the baseline tracks with the two products.

It feels like there are numerous uncertainties so it will likely be
difficult to make a sound decision at present.

That said, more than happy to create macros and an extension that
packages those macros to help with the process of handling documentation
for multiple products.

I am collecting information and organising my thoughts on all of this
(and related topics) and will be writing at more length, probably within
the next day or two. Meanwhile, some random comments in response to your
note...

My impression is that although LO code is diverging from OOo code, in
most cases the effect, if any, on the user-facing product is one of
additional features and options, which can be handled relatively easily
in documentation. This situation may change if/when some major UI design
changes are agreed upon and implemented, but IMO that won't happen this
year -- such things take a long time to discuss before decisions are
made.

Probably a good thing for at least the short term.

Many thanks for the offer to create macros and an extension to help with
producing docs for more than one project. However...

Your welcome...

The LO docs team, such as it is, may or may not want to join forces with
us to reuse material. That's a topic to be discussed there as well as
here, and I intend to start that discussion soon. If you could manage to
subscribe to the LO Docs list, that would be useful. (I've seen your
other note about past unsuccessful attempts, so I realise this may not
be an option.)

I pushed out numerous subscribe messages today (Thanks to Andy Brown for a pointer to their links). If they all fail then I will see if I can poke someone directly associated with the lists to trace the root cause. I can think of a few reasons that it might be so, but, if it continues, I will have the person that administrates the email server that I use chat with the lib-o people. Long term, I really need to be subscribed to their lists.

If both groups are able to combine resources, that is a win/win.
