I really hope that Linda might be able to find some time this week to offer
another version of her own. I'm a bit uneasy that our best graphic designer
doesn't like a design that the rest of us amateurs are about to adopt.

I don't want to adopt a design that Linda doesn't like.

Linda is a professional graphics designer. We would be wise to seek her
guidance. It would be sad if we had a sub-optimal design because we failed to
put our most skilled member in charge.

I believe in meritocracy. For the book covers, I Linda should provide guidance,
and make the final decision. Just like we do for the rest of the guides. For
written text, Jean and Janet provide guidance, and make the final decisions.
That is as it should be.

I'd also like to hear from some other people, if anyone else has an
opinion. Although everyone who has commented so far (including me) says
they like Daniel's version, we're heard from only a few people.

I did not mean to advocate that page as much as people seem to think. I was
just answering Peter's request to put the logo down there. It's good to let
people try out their ideas, and this was just part of that.

I did say that visually, they both look good to me. I said that what I liked
about the latter was getting a bit of recognition. But please don't take that
out of proportion. First, it was a side comment. Second, even if we were to
decide that we'd like a bit more recognition, there are a bazillion ways to go
about it.

Cheers,

Just a few ideas:

Perhaps the OOo logo and the OOoAuthors logo in a circle with OOo on the top half and OOoAuthors on the bottom to represent different sites yet one cause.  Also if we do use both logo's the gulls in the authors logo should go.  We have the gulls already on the page.  Maybe both logos in a circle with the gulls in the middle?  If you want to use both we need to find away to combine OOo, OOoA and the gulls.
