Glad to hear it, because the install of the stable version of
OpenOffice was a failure. It failed near the end; I have a screen shot
at http://www.techknowledgecorp.com/public/OpOffice.tiff (this server
is case sensitive). It remained at this point for about an hour (well,
at least through dinner and a shower). Then I tried the uninstaller,
but it gave an instant error message. I removed the folder manually and
tried it again ... same thing.
Tim, you can still be a valuable editorial resource by reviewing
chapters for clarity of explanations (esp. for newbies), logical
development of ideas, and all that sort of stuff, even though you
can't check them against the beta software itself.. In fact, if after
doing some reviewing you really want to get stuck into editing, I (as
lead editor) need some people to go through an entire book looking for
consistency issues, missing topics, and all sorts of stuff.
Frankly I'm a good editor. I've written plenty of style guides, and in
fact I helped IBM write a major guide the early 80s.
