I'm trying to write "point and click" instructions for installing a
templte. I admit I'm having problems. The method I know is:
1. Put the template in <OOoInstallation>/user/template/
2. Select File > New > Templates and Documents.
3. Go to the Default folder.
4. Click on the template.
The problem is in step (1):
* How can a point&click user (e.g. my parents) tell where OOo is installed?
* What if the user doesn't know his way around a file system? I'm not
confident that they would be able to find a folder outside "MyDocuments"
if they needed to.
Help? Any suggestions would be most appreciated. I'm at a loss right now.
Assuming you're writing about V2, the simplest instructions that
I know of are:
The user can put the template anywhere, and then use Templates >
Organize to import it into the correct place. Most Windows users
would put the template somewhere in My Documents, and that works
just fine. They do NOT need to put it into the templates folder.
To import the template into OOo, most "point and click" users
would put it into the "My Templates" folder in V2. Therefore, in
the Template Management dialog, they would click on the "My
Templates" folder in the left-hand list, then click Commands >
Import Template and navigate to wherever they stored the
template, select the template, and click Open.
