Why don't you do the opposite ? Provide the server with different
versions of the file each with an appropriate suffix (.html.fr,
.html.ja for ex) and let the browser negotiate the contents with the

I don't know how to configure Apache. I know *nothing* about Apache. Not
even a tiny bit. I looked at the how-to you linked to and it was over my
head.
So, until I learn how to manage Apache, I think a Javascript solution
will do (provided it actualy works).
Could you please take a look at the page and tell me if the Javascript
worked?
It does not work for me. This is what I did:
- Firefox: Edit->Preferences->General->Languages
- selected "Romanian [ro]", added it and moved to the top
- restarted the browser, and still see "The development site for
OpenOffice.org documentation" (the "en" text)
I hate the method used by Google (don't know what method they use) but
is very efficient: I never set my browser to use Romanian language, but
all the time Google detect somehow my location (based on the IP block?)
and serve me a Romanian page (so I have to use cookies to keep it in
English)
