Thanks, Fabian, for finding that. I had thought that it was just
my Windows system where it didn't work, for some reason I didn't
understand.
I guess this is related to the use of "panes" in Impress and
Draw; the floating/dockable windows in Writer now look and act
like panes. For example, they do not have title bars when docked.
On my Windows system (XP SP2), I dock a floating window (such as
Styles and Formatting) by grabbing it by the title bar and (not
using the Ctrl key) hovering it over an edge of the main window.
(I discovered this by accident when it kept docking when I did
not want it to.)
The undocking procedure is wrong or at least incomplete for
Windows, because there is no title bar when the window is docked.
To undock it, I grab it by an edge and pull on the edge.
Do these techniques work on GNU/Linux? Do they work for you in
Windows?
I hope we'll hear from a Mac user. If not, I plan to install the
latest OOo on a Mac over the weekend, so I can test it then.
I'll revise that part of Chapter 4 when I have more information.
