Rick --

Check the version I posted yesterday. Towards the end it talks about some minor changes to the charts. I worry about going to in depth on these.

I believe the current doc walks through the all of the auto format screens. If I missing one let me know.

Also, using a chart as an embedded objects is in Chapter 9 which deals with linking and sharing Calc data.

When you do come back around, can you start with the Functions chapter. I would like to get at least a draft of each chapter in by the end of August, when school starts up. Of course, not rush, sounds like you are making some great tutorials.

Have a nice day,
Peter

Is Rick still actively with us?

Hi y'all,

I'm still around...I finishing off one of my Calc tutorials and they are
very labor intensive. You ought to take a look, I can use all the
constructive criticism and good advice I can get. I wanted to get these
out before I finished the chapters I am working on, so the research I do
for the slideshows can be used for OOoAuthors.

He pops in now and then, somewhat randomly, rather like you do. :-)

I read most of the posts...but they are horribly slanted toward
Writer...

The last note I have from Rick to the list is dated 11 June this year (though I may have deleted something more recent).

He definitely has not given any indication that he's no longer active and involved. He may be on summer vacation, though.

As soon as I finish the current slideshow tutorial I'm working on
(Charting), I will attack my Calc Guide work with a vengeance. I've put
in hundreds of hours on these slideshows...and I have, I must admit
neglected OOoAuthors...but not Calc!

I did notice that the Calc chapter on charting is rather 'thin' when I
looked it over last week. I feel that it doesn't go into enough detail
regarding editing an existing chart, or really enough detail about the
AutoFormat Chart dialog's options. Some of these are confusing,
especially when trying to find what menu has what options (eg. Main menu
vs context menu). And, how a chart is selected determines what toolbar
buttons and menu items are available.

The Main Calc Options dialog has a Charts 'page' (or do we say dialog?)
and some more chart specific options are found under the Options > Calc
View page. There should also be a section on using the charts as
embedded objects in other OOo components.

That's just a thought, Peter if you have the time that should be
easy ;-)

As for me I'm here I just try to stay out of any controversy. And,
believe me that's tough.

Have a look at my Calc tutorial slideshows if you have some time, see
the link below...
