Hi guys,
How's it going? I don't see anything new in the Review List since
before I went on vacation at the end of August. Peter, I realise that
the school year has started again, so you're probably very short of time.
Now that I'm back I will review "Using Styles in Calc" and "Calc Data
Pilot", the two chapters that are currently on the Review List.
Rick and Dick, weren't you working on some new chapters? Any idea when
they might be ready for review?
We *really* need Chapter 3, Creating Formulas and Using Functions, but
we could publish a first edition of the book without the chapters on
Data Analysis using Scenarios and Goal Seek, and Macros, adding those
chapters later.
Cheers, Jean
Hi Jean,
I have to confess that I've been guilty of dereliction of duty lately --
my two part time jobs have been taking up more time than normal
(fortunately I don't HAVE a full time job at least). Also fortunately,
one of my part time jobs is as an OpenOffice.org trainer for a
non-profit health care firm, so I can sneak in some work on OOoAuthors
and feel that it's somewhat job related.
I can work on the Chapter 3 that you mentioned (Creating Formulas and
Using Functions). I feel reasonably well versed in these topics, while
by contrast I would not feel at all competent to do anything on Data
Analysis using Scenarios and Goal Seek, or on Macros. I'm assuming that
Chapter 3 needs to be started from scratch, but please confirm.
Also, not that I'm looking for more work, but I'm maintainer of the
chapter in the Migration Guide on differences in use, Calc vs Excel. It
was based on a slightly older version than we're on now (I think it was
either 2.0 or 2.0.1). I'm not aware of anything that has happened in the
intervening versions that would necessitate an update in the chapter,
but I was wondering what the normal procedure was for when a chapter
needed to be verified with a new version.
See you later,
Dick
