Jean,
the figure numers are from 1 to 407. There are no missing or double numbers.
There are a few figures without number, but these might be on purpose.
See p.e. chapter 11, page 267 and page 270. It is twice the same picture.

I've been looking at the book for so long that I can't see even obvious
mistakes, so I hope someone else can spot any that are left. In
particular, I would be grateful if someone would check the figure
numbering (to see if any numbers are skipped or repeated or out of order),
and do a random check on cross-references to figure numbers and page
numbers. We've had problems in the past with cross-refs in particular
getting messed up in master docs, so I turned this book into one single
file in the hope that the numbering would sort itself out.
I have uploaded ODT and PDF versions of the book. I recommend checking the
PDF version as that is the one from which the book will be printed.
