Switching between users need not be difficult.

I start a second X session in a different virtual terminal on the same system, 
then log in as the second user:

1. startx -- :1         ;starts the second X session
2. log in on that session
3. Use <ctrl-alt><F7>   :switches back to the first session
4. <ctrl-alt><F8>       ;switch to the second session.
