Side note: Only once have I ever managed to upload a document, so it is
probably me.
Those instructions probably need updating; I'll look at them today.
The main thing is that uploading as "OOoDocument" does not work
with .odt files, as you discovered. Upload as "File" and it
should work fine.
BTW, I can restore the file you deleted, if necessary.
