Comments welcome. Volunteers to work on the book are also welcome!
As you know from off-list, I am very interested in helping with the book
but I don't think I have author access. My username is walteram.
I like the outline and it does look like it would be a good approach for
a range of users.
Welcome, Walter! It is great to have you join us. I have now
given you the Author role. Please tell the list a bit about your
background in general and your experience with databases in
particular.
Team-- Walter wrote the Database chapter (Ch7) in the "official"
OOo User Guide... IMO one of the better chapters in that book. He
also has made a sample database that could be used for examples
in our book. (He has pointed me to other sample d/bs as well.)
I am reorganising the Database folder on the website. It now has
subfolders "First Draft", "Second Draft" and "Source Material" in
addition to "Feedback". We can add other "draft" folders as we
need them. I hope this will help us more easily keep track of the
progress of writing, reviewing, editing and indexing chapters (in
addition to using our file naming conventions to date the
chapters as we go). I have moved the background material (that
was in the main folder) into "Source Material".
