occasions it prevents the big white spaces at the end of the page that
are associated with the strict paragraph anchoring.
What do you think?

I think we should *not* include in a currently-available chapter anything scheduled for a future release of OOo, especially a major one like 3.0. It will just confuse many readers.

I suggest that you make a new folder for version 3.0 WG docs and put a copy of the chapter (containing the 3.0 info) in that folder. That way it's ready to go when the s/w is released.

In fact, it's probably time to start folders for v3.0 for all the books, so anyone who wants to work with the betas and write up new features can have a home for the chapters to be reviewed and edited and stored until time to release them. That's more or less what we did in the runup from 1.x to 2.0.

Further thoughts... at this point in the 2.x cycle (with 3.0 due out in 6 months or less), we should encourage everyone to start working on the 3.0 guides as soon as they can get their hands on a beta version of 3.0.

I do not see any harm in having early writings about new version 3 features. There are at least two simple ways to handle that besides having a dedicated version 3 folder: (1) include a "New for version 3" note as we had earlier for whatever sections/subsections or (2) use conditional text for the new material and release that later. It wouldn't hurt for us to use Writer features we haven't used much previously.

Having some premature version 3 material written now might goad other writers who have early knowledge of version 3 to write about that now also, instead of having it done over a half year from now or never... I would tend to welcome whatever advanced material to be written by writers who have the time and interest now than hoping that something might get written at some unknown distant point in the future.
