Hello,
I have taken this chapter from the review list, but I have not found
any revision marks in it.
I will review it and, if you don't mind will put myself as the maintainer.
The chapter is based on OOo 2.3.1 so I was wondering if someone is
aware of major changes to the mail merge functionality introduced in
2.4 or that will be introduced in 3.0 (since I am reviewing, besides
applying the new template I might just as well add the description of
the new features-if any-)
Cheers,
Michele :-)
You might as well be the maintainer, especially if you will be the major
(only?) contributor for that chapter.
I have no real vested interest in changing any parts of the template. If
the first two subheads stay left-aligned, then just keep the verbiage
short so as not to go two lines. Subheads are just subheads, not books
in themselves. So just change as long-winded subheads from two lines to
one liners.
The methodology of the former bulleted and numbered list used previously
was not really disclosed anywhere AFAIK. And they were essentially
manual overrides--the very things that styles were meant to avoid and
that our manuals were promoting as a matter of course. So, formalizing
those lists via styles is essentially us eating our own cooking.
Whatever definitions any styles have at present have no effect on what
the chapters will appear when the finalized styles are reimported into
them before publication anyway.
I forgot to upload the version 2.3.1 template earlier to replace the
2.4.0 version. It may not even be different because I believe what
version is on your system is what causes the problem with older
chapters. It's my guess that anybody with a buggy 2.4.0 or 3.0 will
encounter those problems, or at least they will after they save it the
first time.
