Here are some ideas that come to my mind:
* Sponsor something related to OOoCon, such as contributing to the
travel expenses for a financially disadvantaged attendee.
* Pay expenses for an OOo presence at some conferences or exhibitions:
for example, cost of booth materials (handouts, banner, etc) or travel
expenses of a volunteer booth being.
* Buy our own books and donate them to libraries or schools or other
worthy places.
The idea of donating books to public libraries and schools is a great
idea. Maybe on top of that, I wonder if the Dutch (of course others as
well) OOoAuthors community might get some starting capital for
publishing the translated guides. I am not sure whether we can use some
of the ISBN you bought, otherwise we need to buy them (I am completely
unfamiliar with this, so excuse my ignorance). I know we have to deposit
some copies as well, probably both in Belgium and in the Netherlands.
In that way, we might add some extra money to the fund in the future. :-)
I still have to discuss this on our mailinglist, so I might have to
revert telling another story ;-)
