Dear folks,

I am the translator one of our guides, the Writer Guide, into Bahasa
Indonesia. I translated it with a small vision that the printed version of
the translated documents along with the OOo office suite software can be
continuously spread and introduced to several schools in my city.

In the last two years, I teach office application using OpenOffice.org
Writer and Calc in a junior high school in Bogor, West Java, Indonesia.
Although this is a relatively short experience, but I am confident to try to
introduce OOo to some other schools. In fact, I've made a plan for it,
though not yet detail.

Nowadays, I have convinced a friend to join me to make the plan happen. And
he even convinced his wife to join and support us both. Now we are a
three-person team. One problem solved.

The next things we need are the neat software documentations and/or
tutorials. As I stated earlier, I have translated the Writer Guide. However,
in order to make the plan works fine, we think that we also need the
translated Getting Started Guide. Those documents act as a necessary
condition to us. I haven't found anyone who can help me on this so I have to
do this alone. Therefore, I need several months to translate it. According
to my translation experience, it will need roughly about 4 to 6 months to
finish it. In other words, I can finish it between January and March 2009
when I begin on this October.

The other important thing we need is the localized OOo software into Bahasa
Indonesia. According to our friends on the native-lang project, the status
is 63% completed now. I think it can be completed in early 2009. And I also
think that the completion will match with the translated documentation.
Therefore, in 2009 two other problems should be solved. :)

It is a fact that the team also need funding support. We are pleased to give
our time and effort to spread OpenOffice.org, but none of us is wealthy
enough to fund the whole project. Therefore, we need a fund support from
anyone or any organization including OOoAuthors. The fund will be
continuously used for printing the guides, creating presentation material,
logistic, and activity documentation purpose.

It would be a great appreciation to us that the fund from OOoAuthors can be
used for the project. If so, we will make a simple proposal that you can
examine. Thus all of you can decide how much you will support us.

Best Regards,
Ihsan Faisal (the translator),
