I suspect that would not help, or it might help but not solve the
problem. Too many spammers are getting around CAPTCHA these days.
On the Ingot site we had a problem with spammers and our contact form. I
added a CAPTCHA and that eliminated all spam through that form. Now, I
don't expect the same result on OOoAuthors, but I do expect a 90% drop.
The first captcha I tried was simple (add two numbers) and it did
nothing to stop spam. The second captcha I tried used 6 characters, and
that one worked well.

I know Marko was intending to upgrade Plone to a later version, and he
had been postponing making some changes until after the upgrade (so he
didn't have to do it twice). Perhaps when he finds time for the upgrade,
he can add CAPTCHA or some other feature at that time.
I am clueless about Plone myself.
