Hello,

My name is Eric Spery. I'm new here and very interested in contributing to the Open Office project.
I followed the instructions at http://contributing.openoffice.org/writing.html
and sent an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

But, now I've found http://oooauthors.org and I'm confused. Does this mailing
list and site service the same group? Are these two different groups? If
someone could clarify this for me, I'd love to begin helping with the
documentation for Open Office.

Thank You for any clarification,
Eric Spery

The OOoAuthors group is a subset of the people producing documentation for OOo. We produce (in .ODT format) the user guides (Getting Started, Writer Guide, Impress Guide, and so on) for OpenOffice.org. PDFs of these guides are then placed on the Documentation Project's website, and the guides are converted to wiki format and placed on the Documentation wiki. This mailing list is for people working on the user guides.

The Documentation Project is focusing mainly on wiki documentation (how-to's, FAQs, other manuals such as the Administration Guide). There has been talk about making the wiki the primary site for producing the user guides as well. However, so far the people actually working on the user guides prefer to produce them in .ODT (as we have been doing since before the wiki was set up), so that's what has been happening.

BTW, most of the active people on this list also belong to the [EMAIL PROTECTED] list.
