I've been lurking on this list for a few weeks but would like to introduce myself. My name is Anna Sharman, and I live in the UK (London). I work as a freelance copyeditor on biology and medical journals.
I have been using OOo (mainly Writer and Calc) for my personal documents for three years or so, and would like to use it exclusively for work on clients' documents as well, but as these are almost always produced in MS Word this has been difficult at times. I feel strongly about the advantages of open source software and it seems to me that OOo 3.0 is almost, but not quite, compatible enough with MS products for me to recommend it for use editing document produced in MS Word. I would like to help with documentation (and anything else I can help with), with the aim of getting OOo good enough and understandable enough that my fellow copyeditors will be able to switch to it with confidence and use it on their clients' documents. I think my main contribution will be reviewing and editing documentation. I will be fitting it in round work, which is sometimes very busy and sometimes not busy at all (I registered for this list just before a busy period). I am not a developer but I know a bit about programming and am starting to wrestle with OOBasic macros (and MS VBA ones) so I'd be particularly interested in documentation of Writer macros (of which there is very little at the moment that I have found). I would like to have author status, please. I look forward to working with you all. Best wishes Anna --- Anna Sharman [EMAIL PROTECTED] London, UK
