I think open source works best, if there is not only a one-way street: 
consuming. The spirit of open source includes giving something back to the 
community: e.g. a little piece of work, time, hardware.

Yes. But I guess, we should rethink our practise for the future. Maybe there 
are better solutions to avoid such business without giving something back to 
the community.
