Hello, I have been using OpenOffice for a few years and am impressed with the progress it has made. I have decided I would like to contribute to the development by helping out with the documentation. My background is in software development and ESL teaching so I have a good grasp of computers and language. I was a programmer for almost 10 years and was involved in various projects ranging from software for client-server platforms to wireless hand-held devices. Language teaching has kept me busy for the last few years although I still manage to do some development on my own time. I also enjoy studying Mandarin although I would not say I am at a level to do any translating (yet).
I must admit my motives are not altogether altruistic. I have recently started a language services company and some of the services I want to offer are technical writing, proofreading, editing, etc. Unfortunately with no experience it is difficult to convince customers give you a try. So I would very grateful for any help or guidance in these areas. I look forward to working with you and on the project in many capacities. PS.
