I am still not satisfied with the outline as it is presently. The name of the chapter seems to describe what is contained in it: the planning for a database, and then the actual designing of it. The later chapters should include the entering of test data in each part to see what works and what needs to be changed to make it work. Reizinger Zoltán mentioned some people trying to use the wizards to create a database for on office and failing because they did not know what they were doing. Perhaps this would be an excellent database to use as the relational database for the Base Guide. I'm not sure what all this database would involve, but I would like to see the table structure of such a database. So, if Reizinger would do this much for the project, it would be very helpful.
I will try it, but I'm not a database professional, needs others, to help on this.
What I need is what professionals would need: the set of data available and what the person wants the database to do. This data would include personal data of the customers, inventory, data from accounts receivable, data from accounts payable, and probably some things that I have not thought of; perhaps you might know of some more. What queries would be needed? What reports are needed? Once we have a statement of what is needed from the database in general terms, we can then begin a question and answer sequence pointing us to what the detailed goals are for the database. From there we can design the database. In other words, we will be doing the same thing that anyone creating a database should do as well. I do have a high school accounting book that might be able to point me to the things needed for this database. This might be enough. Over the next few days, I will see if I can work out a general outline for my proposed database.
My databases are usually personal in nature, but there are many people who need a business type database.
Here is the link to my suggested outline:

I think this good one to start second Chapter.
