status of autofs v4 (or possible v5?)?

Hi   I was just wondering if autofs v4 is totaly dead, or if it is someone who is actually working on it and are preparing any patches for it? And is there any furture plans for a v5 of autofs, or do I just have to settle with how autofs is today, and realise that autofs on linux would never have The same capabilities that other UNIX variants has?   Kjetil Mikkelborg.
