Another one from those who never complains and believes it will resolve
by itself.

Tell me how would you suppose I could fix your problem when I don't even
know that such problem exist....

I think its good that 98% is just configure - its a sign of that the rest
is working pretty well don't you think ? :)

I've not seen many complains about speed, unplayabla files or others
(except some problem with A-V synchro)

Anyway:
a) if you want to resolve you problem with configure
   - you have to tell me about it (just send me a private mail without
   output log and I'll see how could I fix that - might just some missing
   macro in acinclude.m4 with 99% probability)
b) It will not start to work for you by some miracle
c) You should know that as you are mplayer developer!

If you just wanted to flame  autoconf - sorry I'm not interested 
and will not switch to makefile...
