Using avifile-0.7.7-fr2 (the precompiled rpm I could find for Linux RedHat 7.2),
I get after installing this and binaries-010122.zip, binaries-diff.zip to
get the Win32 dll's the error:

<Codec keeper> : /usr/lib/avifile0.7/divx4.so: A/V 0/2
<Codec keeper> : /usr/lib/avifile0.7/audiodec.so: A/V 6/0
<Codec keeper> : /usr/lib/avifile0.7/ac3pass.so: A/V 1/0
<Win32 plugin> : Win32 LoadLibrary failed to load: msrle32.dll,
/usr/lib/win32/msrle32.dll, /usr/local/lib/win32/msrle32.dll
<Exception> : Win32 loader: FATAL: Could not load Win32 dll library: msrle32.dll
<Codec keeper> : CreateVideoDecoder(): Unknown codec 0x1 = "`"
<Exception> : IAviPlayer: FATAL: Failed to initialize decoder object
<aviplay> : No video will be available
<aviplay> : Cannot play this

This is quite logical, as there is no msrle32.dll in the binaries* codec
distributions.
Putting either the windows 95 or the windows 2000 msrle32.dll in /usr/lib/win32
also doesn't work:

With windows 2000 msrle32:
<Codec keeper> : /usr/lib/avifile0.7/divx4.so: A/V 0/2
<Codec keeper> : /usr/lib/avifile0.7/audiodec.so: A/V 6/0
<Codec keeper> : /usr/lib/avifile0.7/ac3pass.so: A/V 1/0
<Win32 loader> : Using Win32 dll library: msrle32.dll
Called unk_GetModuleHandleW
Segmentation fault

With windows 95 msrle32 I get the messages below (NO crash), but there
is a black display...:

<Codec keeper> : /usr/lib/avifile0.7/ac3pass.so: A/V 1/0
<Win32 loader> : Using Win32 dll library: msrle32.dll

Please help. This codec is a codec of choice as it provides rather artefact free
compression for grayscale images with an acceptable compression factor.
