Some more info for you:

Example 1 is the texture used from the examples included in the away3d
download.

Which are:
http://www.allforthecode.co.uk/development/shared_data/images/textures/skybox6/3.jpg
and
http://www.allforthecode.co.uk/development/shared_data/images/textures/skybox6/1.jpg
and
http://www.allforthecode.co.uk/development/shared_data/images/textures/skybox6/2.jpg

My testing for orientation:
http://www.allforthecode.co.uk/development/shared_data/images/textures/skybox6/dsky6.jpg

Sky texture:
http://www.allforthecode.co.uk/development/shared_data/images/textures/skybox6/skybox.jpg

Some texture I found on someone elses example which I nabbed for
testing:
http://www.allforthecode.co.uk/development/shared_data/images/textures/skybox6/my_skybox.jpg
He mentioned the roof item was 180 degrees the wrong way

I have found I cannot get skybox6 to use a movieclip material but is
fine with bitmap as you will find.
However skybox can handle movieclips.
