Hey Matt

a suggestion from me would be to try using multiple views to mask your
segments - have the cube render in one view, and use that view3d sprite to
mask a second view that contains your segments. you can also create a
smaller viewport by using the minX/maxX/minY/maxY properties of the clipping
object (view3d.clipping). Or if you are determined to do this for real in 3d
space - take a look at the frustum clipping class
(core.clip.FrustumClipping) that does the same thing you want but on the
viewing frustum. you may be able to cpoy the code in thre and modify it for
your own needs
