well, first :
this looks beautifull, it's good to see a sensitive light work !
and :
697000 as a sphere radius ! You probably win the first prize for the
"world biggest sphere radius of the world wide web"!!!!
but....hey, let me think about your problem...
Now imagine that specular has by default a very small offset in it's
result when calculating specular UV's, but no one can see it because
theyr scene is usualy small enough...
In your scenery, the light is about 148192000 far from your planet
faces... so that offset just increase so much that we can see that
offset, even if it would be a 0.00000001 offset in UV's calculation...

For me that deals with the scenery size.

(I don't now who in the team buider's did implement the specular or
the directionnal light, but he'd better not  knock at the door of the
NASA....)
