Hello I'm attempting to create an away3d driving game without the usage of jiglib or WOW physics due to the performance hit. So I searched the web and found this link: http://www.everydayflash.com/blog/index.php/2009/12/11/3d-racing-game/ his work around to detect collision and keep the the car on a path is to sample RGB pixel value on a map, based on the car's coordinates. here's the excerpt from his blog: "The way it works is that it takes the car’s position and checks against a map of the track that has different colors for different areas – ex. red for the road, green for the sideways and so on… Since it samples only a few pixels per frame and all it does is check their RGB values, it’s lighting fast. Truly, Flash is the art of minimal!"
i'm trying to figure out a way to sample RGB pixel values on a mesh based on a given coordinate. when reviewing the mesh, skinExtrude, object3d classes nothing really stands out on how to accomplish this. any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
