I have worked around the mouseUp event when it's still down problem. I
had put the event listener on the stage and that was giving the
problems with composite materials. So I have moved the event to the
sphere object and it now works fine.

I'd still like to be able to draw (and move) an artibarty circle
around my sphere directly on the surface. Using a wire polygon means I
have to 'float' the line a couple of pixels above the spheres surface
to stop it intersecting and disappearing for sections of arc. Still
the polygon line will do for now.
