Im not sure a TargetCamera3D would work for me as I need to be able to
roam the world freely and not lookAt a specific object.

With the second option you mentioned "Putting the lookAt into an
enterFrame Callback" - What do you mean by this?

I do have an enterframe callback setup and I want in every loop of the
callback to be able to get the lookAt value. Ideally I want to just do
trace(cam.lookAt()) or equivalent but I cannot find a way to do this.
Any ideas?

Please excuse my ignorance, I am just beggining to get to grips with
Away3D.
