Well,... to all the curious out there . I tried to substitute it with
FrustumClipping instead

like this:
var fr:FrustumClipping=new FrustumClipping({maxZ:1000});

and it works like a charm ! Does the job of ZDepthFilter perfectly .

Still would like to know what is going on with ZDepthFilter
