I've not really looked at the shadow maps properly yet, but just a browse/search of the docs revealed a 'depthMapSize' property.
http://away3d.com/livedocs/broomstick/Away3D/away3d/lights/shadowmaps/ShadowMapperBase.html#depthMapSize In the code, it looks like it's defaulted to 2048, so chances are it's as big as it's gonna get (not sure on the current limits though). You could try changing that to see what effect it gives. Maybe it's possible (somehow?) to adjust the overall depth within your scene e.g. the near/far of the camera lens, so that the depth map is stretched overs a shorter distance. I don't know it this would work, but might be worth a try. Greg
