It's not that your patch is bad, if it solves the problem properly even better. I wanted to pitch in some ideas because;
With _ what to do with /usr/bin/lsb_release? _ is too often used.
The "_" is a good *example*, it's not a Lua magic character or XML... but talking about dynamically generated menus from crazy sources we exactly come to my main concern from previous post. All kinds of characters could come from a souce like the process list or binaries, many possibilities for a broken menu.
