scripting vs. programming

There's an interesting thread on /. right now about scripting vs. 
programming, and the attitude that "programmers" may or may not have 
against "scripters"

Since AxKit is a perl-based system, but is clearly "programmer" 
quality, I would like to know what people think about that? It's an 
open ended question :)
