Hi Kim, I'm not sure if I'm going to need to head down there, but should know by Tuesday evening. Check back with me Tuesday night or Wednesday am and I can let you know. Someone is going to get back with me who does lookups for San Francisco and said he'd take a look on Tuesday evening at the library. I'm sure the state library has newspapers for San Luis Obispo or at least you'd think so. Have you tried the local library for San Luis Obispo. I came across two additional pieces of help today. One, at the Parjaro Valley Historical Society in Watsonville (for my San Francisco relative, William L. Bettencourt, who's sister Marguerite/Margaret Bettencourt Mitchell, who lived in Watsonville) and also the local Watsonville library.
Now, I was given this piece of advice, so I will pass it along. A while back I requested information from the Castroville library. They sent it to me free of charge. So, I mailed them a check for a donation to their library. A fellow (female actually) portuguese genealogy friend suggested that I do this, so I'll pass this along to you. It dosen't have to be a large donation, but anything helps. Keep in touch Kim and best of luck to you with the weather.
