Hello,

Thanks for replies. Keep 'em coming.

Janela is a family nickname. And it does mean window in English.
Family folklore suggests originated because Janela house was one of
first to have windows installed.

A few years ago, my son Luke visited Sao Jorge and was directed to
home of the late Antonio Pires. It was the original "Janela" house, he
was told. Apparently Antonio has two brothers living in Beira, and a
nephew Manuel Pires who lives in California.

Including first graphs of a family genealogy, in hopes of establishing
some links.

Would love to seek Beira photos!
