Hi Yolanda,
I'll put some pictures up tomorrow....I still have them in my camera and need
to get them into the computer. I took some great ones of the town and church
because my ggrandfather was baptised there and my Mom never thought she'd see
anything of her family villages.
I met several different people but the only person whose name I asked for was a
family who I took pictures of the grandfather and the granddaughter on the
donkey....a wonderful picture.... the family name was Silveira and the house
was on Rua s.t. Ana....(that is the way the daughter wrote the address)
The Beira cheese factory makes the best cheese on Sao Jorge in my opinion.....a
bit spicey....although every cheese I've eaten from Sao Jorge was
delicious....it's the main thing I bring home from the Azores each year...Sao
Jorge cheese, Pico wine and fig preserves!I wish I had met some relatives but I
have no idea yet who they are.....I'm sure there are cousins though. With 3
ggrandfathers and 1 greatgrandmother all from Sao Jorge I'm sure I have
relatives.
Since my discovery of my ggfather Antonio Baptista from Topo I have found
already by researching the baptismal records that he was the 3rd child...he had
an older brother Manuel, an older sister Rosa and a younger brother
Jose......that's all I've found so far and I'm still looking!

Best regards,
Nancy

Hi Yolanda,Do you live in Beira?I went to Beira, Sao Jorge this summer and took
pictures of the town and church for my Mom because my ggrandfather Jose Pereira
was from there as was my other ggrandfather Jose Victorino Bettincourt. I
haven't found their baptismal records yet but anxiously wait for the Velas
records to come on line.I found Beira to be a beautiful village and the people
very gracious. Should I post some pictures?Best regards,Nancy
