Dear Hermano

That is remarkable translating!! I do appreciate it so much. I just
couldn't get the date at all. I wasn't familiar with the name like Villa
do Porto.

I went back and studied it again after I read your translation and tried to
find the words Villa do Porto. I think the wedding took place at the
Apostolo de Sao Pedro in Ponta Delgada. Since I got these names from the
Sao Pedro Index, I'm pretty sure that's where the marriage was performed.
But in the middle, right after it talks about the death of Antonio's mother,
Francisca de Andrade, the priest writes something about the Isla de Santa
Maria. Is that where the Vila do Porto comes in? Is that where it's Villa
do Porto? Question: Is Andrade a last name?

I noticed the witnesses were Manoel Perreira and Mathias de Mello. (After
you gave me the Perreira name, then I recognized it.)

This couple was only married 2 years when Maria died and he remarried. I
found that the witness, Mathias de Mello in the first marriage, turned out
to be the father of his next wife.

Probably the people all knew each other very well in the village. (just
trying to put some "flesh on the bones" of these ancestors) I looked to see
if he had children with the first wife and perhaps that was the reason he
remarried after 2 years. I also wondered if they were sisters. But the
last name of the first wife was "Da Silva" and the second wife's father was
Mathias De Mello. So, can I assume they were not sisters?

Sorry I got so obsessed in this. I was intrigued with the death of the
first wife and tried to read what it said about the burial of Sebastiana
Perreira. That was very difficult. Thanks so much for making the time to
help me out.

Maria Elena
