I have to chime in here... both of my trips to the Azores I spent several days at the Angra Garden Hotel. Accomodations were great. It is right on the square which is very central. Only a few short blocks to the Archives. So much to walk around and see. I made reservations one trip and Ginny and Al Dutra made them the other as they use the hotel often. I know that the food at the hotel was wonderful. Many spoke English so that was no problem. The grounds are beautiful. Many taxi's line up right there so there is always a way to get around and the bus line was just the other side of the square so we caught that one day and just rode around the towns on the bus. There are more modern facilities I am sure, but I really enjoyed the feel and location of this place.
