My grandfather Jose B. Souza (DOB 1872)is from San Miguel...and probably left there to Hawaii around1883-1886.I have no real proof of his departure date. The only first definite record of his existence is the 1900 American/Hawaiian Island census. He was then already married to my grandmother Maria Isabella (Tavares Pimentel). No marriage certificate to this also. I have hunted for proof of this for 18 years now and have turned that Island upside-down with the help of PGSH and the Catholic church, and the Depeartment of Health and Statistics. I will continue looking and could use some help and maybe this book can reveal something also. Thank you for your interest. --- On Thu, 4/2/09, Dolores Coyle <[email protected]> wrote: From: Dolores Coyle <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] DeMello book To: [email protected] Date: Thursday, April 2, 2009, 12:33 PM Ray, where are you Souzas from. My Great Grandmother Mary Souza was from Sao Jorges and married Frank Rose in Boston in the 1860s. Just trolling.....
