Dolores, My Great Grandparents are also from Sao Jorge and I have not been able to find out anything on them either. Not coming into this country or the children being born. Have not found anything yet on the Sao Jorge records yet either. They just appeared in San Luis Obispo, San Jose, Oakland, Santa Clara and Hanford. It is a big mystery. I'll keep searching maybe something will show up sometime. I am sure we all have some of the same stories about our Azorean Relatives. I thought your story about what your grand mother said was cute.
