I do live in MA and I know some of my relatives were in Somerville and
Cambridge but I have that information. It is late 1890s I am trying to
trace. I do know my grandfather came up from RI in 1897 or 98 after his
first wife died in RI. So I am trying to learn more about RI. His name
was Joseph (Joze) Thomas and his first wifes name was Julie. I know they
had children but can not find them in any census.

Are you from MA? Because there's a Funeral Director name Cota in
Somerville/Cambridge line where most Portuguese people use for their
deceased. Besides the Rogers one in Cambridge, this is the other one
everyone uses. When my parents passed away they used Cota in North
Reading, MA (another one they owned) though their passed families used
Rogers since that was the main one everyone seemed to use around
Cambridge.
Also there are a lot of Pereira's in Cambridge as well. My family knew
of a lot of them as some are related on the other side of my family.

Dave, my Grandmother (Etelvina Cotta Pereira) was born in the
parrish of Conceicoa of Angra, Her Father was Joao Inacio Cota, &
her Mother was Maria Carolina.
This is as far as I have gotten, but I keep trying for more
information, maybe I'll be lucky when I see the Passenger ship
list that they came over on & the cencus from 1910 - 1930.
please keep me informed, you never know, maybe we are related.
