Hi Shirley,
74 seems young to me these days......I hope you have lots more comfortable
years!
My Dads paternal grandmother, Caterina Cabral, from Santa Maria goes way, way,
way, back! Our Dom Afonso lll was born May 5, 1210 and died Feb.16, 1279....his
parents are Queen Urraca of Leon and Castilla and King Afonso ll of Aragon. I
believe the connection is there but I think yours are descendants of
mine......there's alot on line about these royals. My descent is from Dom
Afonso lll and his mistress, Madragana, she was the daughter of the "mayor" of
Faro in the Algarve when Afonso lll reclaimed it for Portugal. There's quite a
bit about her on the internet also.
I'm sure we're cousins through this line but without looking at the line of
descendants completely from Afonso lll down I'm not sure.
Best regards,
Nancy Jean

Nancy: I am sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. I am 74. I hope that I
can live at least another 7 years. I have a lot more geneaology to do.
I am interested in your Dad's ancestor that goes back to DOM Affonso III.
I have a DOM Affonso III in my database. I have him as the son of KING Pedro
III of Aragon and Sicily & Constance of Sicily. Their DOMarriage was 15 July
1262, in Montpelier, France.
KING Pedro III of Aragon and Sicily was the son of my (ID # 62,398,864) KING
James I of Montpelier, Herault, France. & my (ID # 62,398,0865) PRINCESS
Yolanda Arpad of HUNGARY.
Does any of this sound familiar? If it does, we are related.

Greetings Group,
My Mother, Norma Jean Perry Baptiste, died last Thursday after a
battle with cancer. She was 81 years old. She was a very good mother and we
will all miss her humor and strong opinions!
She was a descendant of Sao Jorge people on both sides with the exception
of a Pico grandmother. Her family came from many states to be with her.....she
always loved it when we all gathered together. She was delighted with the
genealogy discoveries I've been able to share with her and said she couldn't
wait to tell my Dad about the newest discovery that George Pacheco found when
she got to heaven! (I recommend George if you want to hire a
researcher)....(Dad's grandmother, Caterina Cabral, from Santa Maria, goes back
to Dom Afonso lll).
She was a people person and would have loved her funeral......over 300
people there and the processional was so long you couldn't see the end. She
completely organized her funeral down to the last detail as befitting an
executive secretary!
