I've seen quite a few sets of twins in the Sao Jorge records....haven't kept track of the villages but will make note from now on.....no twins in my family either side that I know of. In my own lines in the past 50 years I can come up with three sets of twins. In my research in the parish of Santissimo Salvador (1836-1883) there seems to be a couple sets of twins born each year. I have not counted up the exact number but the frequency seems to be much greater than the general population. I remember seeing a program a few months ago about a village in Brazil where there seemed to be an unusually high number of twins. The conclusion of the program was that it was genetic.
