Jurdoa (Jordoa) is the feminine form of Jordão which is a given name.

Leonor Jordoa is daughter of Margarida Jordoa and Gaspar Afonso Coucelos
married in Santa Cruz da Lagoa on 9 April 1570  (Genealogias de S. Miguel,
Rodrigo Rodrigues, cap. 129º).

Bartolomeu Cabral [Travassos] is a descendant of Diogo Gonçalves de
Travassos and D. Violante Velho Cabral  - Genealogias de S. Miguel, Rodrigo
Rodrigues, cap. 33º, § 11.º, N.º 7:


1. Pero Velho de Travassos (ou Velho Cabral);

2. Estevão Cabral (ou de Travassos);

3. João Cabral, do Vulcão ou dos Remédios, por ser aí morador (Vide
Frutuoso, Livro IV, Caps. III, VIII, XV, XXXII, XLII e LXXIV). Casou com
Catarina Vaz (Cap.º 102.º § Único, N.º 2);

4. Francisco Cabral Travassos, morador na Lagoa (Nota N.º 19 e Frutuoso

5. Bartolomeu Cabral [Travassos]. Casou no Rosário da Lagoa a 2.10.1605, com

  Hi group. I just found this casamento for two of my ancestors and 
noticed the Jurdoa name. I'm not sure if it's a surname or just a second 
name.

The wife is Leanor Jurdoa. Her father is not listed, but her mother is 
Margarida Jurdoa. I was wondering if anyone has any more information on 
this name, or maybe I'm just reading it wrong? I searched the group page 
and "Jurdoa" did not come up in any previous postings.
