 Thank you Mances, for the additional information, and Karlushko and 
Hermano as well, it's much appreciated. It's interesting how quickly the 
names changed from the typical Joaos, Joses, Manoels to all of these 
colorful and "foreign" sounding ones right when I reached the 1600s.
