Hi Nancy,
I usually take several hundred euros with me. My local bank does the dollar to euro exchange and they withdraw the amount from my account. You'll be using euros the entire time that you are there for food, transport, etc. so I found it convenient to have them on hand. Also, I had some left from my first trip and put them away and had them handy when I returned to Sao Miguel two years later. Have a wonderful and safe trip. I am planning a trip to Sao Miguel and need some practical advice. Specifically, I need to know if I can count on having access to ATM machines in Ponta Delgada. I'm reading that travelers' checks are not convenient to use. I would prefer to take a small amount of American cash and plan on withdrawing money from my account in Euros for everyday expenses. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Nancy -- To unsubscribe from this group, send email to [email protected]. Follow the confirmation directions when they arrive.
