I checked Ancestry and there are Chadinha listed from the Azores. One in
particular Jose Pacheco Chadinha b. 1858 Azores in 1920 US Census Eden,
Alameda County, CA. There are others. A woman's manifest listed as born in
Ponta Garca Sao Miguel. Some in MA and some in CA. This might be the Jose
above even though birth year is not the same. Name is clearly spelled
Chadinha. You might check him against your Passportes list. "E"
